Nokuthula Msane

Chairperson

Nokuthula Msane is a distinguished nursing professional and respected community health leader with extensive experience in primary healthcare management, nursing education, and community development in South Africa. She holds Diplomas in General Nursing Science, Midwifery, Community Nursing Science, and Clinical Nursing Science with a specialization in Health Assessment, Treatment and Care (Primary Health Care). She further holds a Degree in Nursing Administration and a Degree in Nursing Education, reflecting her strong foundation in both health systems leadership and professional training. Her additional professional development includes studies in Human Genetics and Geriatric Care, strengthening her expertise in holistic and age-responsive healthcare services. Over the course of her career, she has held senior managerial roles within Primary Health Care facilities, providing strategic oversight, operational leadership, and mentorship to multidisciplinary teams. She has led and supervised Community Health Workers in community profiling, needs assessments, care plan development, and the implementation of targeted interventions to address complex health and social challenges at grassroots level. She played an active leadership role in the Sukuma Sakhe programme, the Premier’s integrated service delivery initiative that brings together government departments and community stakeholders to address health, social, and environmental challenges through coordinated action. Her professional commitment has consistently focused on improving the wellbeing of vulnerable populations, particularly children and older persons. She remains actively engaged in community upliftment initiatives, including local feeding programmes and community-based support networks. As Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Grandmothers Movement South Africa, she provides strategic governance and visionary leadership, guiding the organisation’s mission to strengthen, support, and amplify the voices of grandmothers who play a vital role in sustaining families and communities.
